CONCLUSION
Translation is an increasingly practical and useful activity in the
increasingly globalized world in which we live, it is also a learning
strategy frequently used by students. Translation facilitates the
acquisition of new vocabulary and fosters a deeper understanding of the
meaning, structure and use of the language, both of the mother tongue
and of what is being learned, and sensitizes the student to the
semantic, syntactic, stylistic and cultural differences that exist
between the two languages, it is not only the substitution of word for
word, but it leads the student to develop valuable intercultural skills,
since it forces him to look for enough contextual information, to find,
as Duff (1989) said, the appropriate words to transmit what is meant . The
use of translation for teaching purposes is appropriate once the
student has already acquired a basic knowledge of the language, since a
minimum of vocabulary and knowledge of the grammatical structures of the
foreign language is required and its key tool is, Without a doubt, the
dictionary.
Translation is a very important method when studying languages. However,
translation is not a time-saving device. It can be invaluable in causing
discussion and helping us to increase our own awareness and that of our
students about unavoidable interaction between the mother tongue and
the target language, the theories of translation allow us to establish
the importance of each of the essential parts of the author process or
source language, text or idea, reader or target language `so as not to
lose sight of what the final goal of our translation is. The study of a
theory of translation does not allow us to understand the importance of
having an adequate preparation that provides the necessary skills for
the purposes of our work.
Translation is a real-life, natural activity which many learners use on a daily basis either formally or informally; that help students understand problems caused by their native language by the discussion of differences and similarities between languages. So by this reason has become a common strategy used by many learners even if teachers do not encourage it.
Students need code-switching training in translating activities; seeking better proficiency in translating from native language into English. Because translation as a teaching tool needs to take into account a number of different aspects, such as grammar, syntax, collocation and connotation. Uncritical use of translation may give learners insufficient, confusing or even inaccurate information about target language.
